Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are fully residential, co-educational schools affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi with classes up to 12th standard. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, manages these schools. Admission to these schools is through an examination called JNVST to Class VI. Children are mainly from rural areas and there is 30% reservation for girls. Quality modern education with a strong component of culture, promoting national integration through student migration between Hindi speaking and non-Hindi speaking states and following the three-language formula with the local language as the medium of instruction up to class-VIII There are some key features to do. This unique educational venture.

Objectives of the scheme :

• To ensure that students attain an appropriate level of competence in the three languages.

• To promote national integration through migration of students from Hindi to non-Hindi speaking states and vice versa to serve as a focal point in each district to improve the quality of school education in general by sharing experiences and facilities

BASIC RULES FOR TRAINING PROGRAM FOR HOSTEL
:
Please make your bed daily and keep the room/corridors/premises clean.
Chewing tobacco, smoking and drinking alcohol are strictly prohibited in the premises.
Please do not leave the premises without permission.
Please do not leave cash or valuables in the rooms.
Please do not visit the hostel during tea break.
Please switch off geysers, fans, lights and water taps before leaving the room.
In case of any difficulty contact NLI staff.
Do not allow outsiders/relatives in the hostel.
For the training session:
Strictly follow the timetable.
Actively participate and contribute.
Do assignments on time.
Attack ideas, not people.
Only one person will speak at a time

No side talking
Cellular phone should be put on silent mode.
Find reasons to appreciate others.
Participants shall not download any material from NLI computer without permission. They can use the designated computer for the trainees.
Avoid passing judgment and killer phrases like, “we already tried” and “it will never work” and “yes, but…….,”

To establish, fund, maintain, control and manage schools (hereinafter referred to as 'Navodaya Vidyalayas') and to do all such work as may be necessary or conducive to the promotion of these schools. Their objectives are as follows:-

To provide qualitative modern education to the gifted children, mainly from rural areas, irrespective of the socio-economic status of their family, incorporating important components like social values, environmental awareness, adventure activities and physical education.
To provide facilities of teaching in a common medium i.e. English and Hindi at an appropriate level throughout the country.
To provide basic curriculum to ensure comparability at the level of all schools and facilitate understanding of our mixed culture and traditions.
To progressively move the students of each school from one part of the country to another in order to promote national integration and enrich the social spirit.
To act as a focal point for improving the quality of school education by providing training to teachers and mutual exchange of experience and facilities as per the present circumstances.
To establish, develop, maintain and manage hostel accommodation for the students of Navodaya Vidyalayas. To provide financial assistance to, establish and operate other institutions located in any part of the country, if necessary, for the fulfillment of the objectives of the Committee.
To do all such acts as may be considered necessary, incidental or conducive to the fulfillment of any or all of the objects of this Committee.
